Q: Can I still attend the entire convention if I’m not staying at the Radisson?
A: Absolutely! By registering for the convention, you are welcome to attend all events, regardless of where you are staying for the weekend. Events include: 60+ workshops held over the 3 days, Friday Opening Ceremony with Keynote Speaker, Friday OA Musical & Open Mic, Saturday Program and Keynote Speaker, ’Pilgrim Rock’ Dance or ‘Pilgrim Bingo’, and Sunday Closing Ceremony with Keynote Speaker.
Q: Is it too late to stay at the Radisson? I thought the deadline was September?
A: We had made every effort to state Radisson hotel ‘space was limited - so register early.’ Be advised that other hotels are available nearby. In fact, we’ve set aside some rooms at the Cold Spring Best Western, which is three blocks from the hosting Radisson Hotel, at a comparable rate. Please note, if you are not staying at the Radisson, you will need to make your own meal arrangements (see next question.)
Q: Can I sign up for the meal plan if I'm not staying at the Radisson?
A: No. ‘Meal Plans’ are only for guests staying at the Radisson, due to limited seating. However, the Radisson has a restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and many other restaurants are nearby. Also, you are welcome to ‘brown bag’ it and use the Hospitality Suite, which has a microwave and refrigerator and limited seating area.
Q: If I'm just planning to come down for the day on Saturday can I buy a banquet ticket?
A: No. We are not offering a banquet option for day-trippers this year.
Q: Is there a separate price if I’m only planning to come down for the day on Saturday?
A: No. There is only one cost for registering for the convention ($25 before 8/15; $35 after that) but this entitles you to ALL convention events. Note: if you wait to register at the convention, that cost will be $35 – so register early.
Q: If I made my reservation for the hotel, am I automatically registered for the Convention?
A: No. You are not registered for the Convention until you send in a separate Registration form, which is on the back panel of the registration brochure. Convention registration is $25 until August 15th and $35 thereafter.
Q: Can I buy Discovery '08 vests and hats, with logo, at the Convention?
A: If you want to assure you get the size and article you wish to buy, it is best to order by mail. A limited amount of vests and caps at the Convention (definitely not all sizes) may be available at the Convention but it is best to place your order by completing the merchandise ordering section on the registration form. And, please order early. Q: If I win the Convention Raffle, which includes a room at the Radisson, can I bring a roommate?
A: Yes. You can certainly bring a roommate. The room charge will be taken care of (under your name) but your roommate will be charged separately for the meal package. All Convention Raffle winners will be notified and will be informed of details.
